I am for the prosecution of Edward Hyde and Henry Jekyll. To begin with, there is proof stating that he murdered this man. A maid had witnessed him beating the man cruelly to his death. Then Mr. Utterson investigated the house of Hyde and found the other half of the weapon to which the man was murdered by. Also after Mr. Utterson went to Hyde's house, Mr. Hyde was no where to be found. This all shows that Mr. Hyde murdered the man and should be punished. Although Mr. Hyde was the person who committed the crime, it wasn't entirly his fault. Remember Dr. Henry Jekyll was the one who created Mr. Hyde for one purpose. And his purpose was to do evil and not get blamed for it. If Dr. Jekyll didn't want to do bad in the first place then he would not be in this situation. Dr. Jekyll is just as fault with as Mr. Hyde. The Doctor knew that by creating Mr. Hyde there would be some negatives. So in my opinion Mr.Hyde/ Dr. Jekyll should be put in jail for their wrong doings.

Dr. Jekyll
While reading The Strange Case Of Dr.Jekyll and Mr.Hyde I have come across some intresting characters. Although the one I am most drawn to has got to be Dr. Jekyll. I say this because Dr. Jekell has always been the mysterious one. From the begining of the book to the point I'm currently reading he has always been the type of person who keeps secrets. He is also not very socialable. For example on page 11 Dr. Lanyon was telling Mr. Utterson how Dr. Jekyll and him hadn't spoken because Dr. Jekyll " began to go wrong, wrong in the mind".
Dr. Jekyll also loves to keep things a hidden mystery. For example in his will he states that if he goes missing within three months (to be exact) that all of his possessions be given to Mr. Hyde. And when Mr. Utterson goes to Dr. Jekyll's house to say why give it all to Mr. Hyde, Dr. Jekyll tells him to leave everything alone and that he shall not question about it anymore.
Then everything changes, in the chapter called, ' Remarkable Incident of Dr. Lanyon ' , Dr. Jekyll becomes friendly and sociable again. He has many dinner parties and is having a great time. Ever since the dissapearance of My. Hyde , Dr. Jekyll began a new fresh life. But that only lasted for more than two months. After that Dr. Jekyll refused to see anyone again.
Dr, Jekyll has many mood changes throughout the book. One moment he will be very mysterious and then the next he shuts the door on his friends.
I think that stevenson is trying to say that people back then maybe changed as science became more advanced. For example Dr. Jekyll went overboard with scince because he went wrong in the mind. Therefore I belive that sometimes science needs to be left alone because if not you could end up like Dr. Jekyll.

"Story of a Door" Reaction .
Throughout this book, there were many moments that effected me as a reader. It made me futher think into the book. For example on page 7 of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde when Mr. Utterson and Mr. Enfield were talking. Mr. Enfield was describing the man that had ran into the little girl. "He is not to easy describe. There is something wrong with his appearance; something displeasing, something downright detestable. I never saw a man so I disliked, and yet I scarce know why. He must be deformed somewhere; He gives a strong feeling of deformity, although I couldn't specify the point. He's an extraordinary-looking man, and yet I really can name nothing out of the way. No, sir; I can make no hand of it; I can't describe him. And it's not want of memory; for I declare I can see him this moment.
During this event, Mr. Enfield states that he could not describe the way the man look, he said the man was extraordinary. In Mental Illness in the 19th Century they talk about how people in the 19th century had mental issues. Some people weren't able to get cured other people had moral treatment. If people had a mental illness, then they would go to prisons and they would be untreated. Also it makes me think how the little girl was out and about at 3 in the morning, could she have had a mental illness?
In this time if people have a mental illness, doctor's can at least control it. People with metal illness can act slow. Although they don't have a wrong apperance.

Mental Illness
In "Mental Illness in the 19th Century" by Carrie Hughes, the writer talks about how people first blamed witchcraft for starting mental illness. Also the article talks about how if a person had a mental illness they had to go to prisons or saty home . Although the problem was that the people in the prisons and homes were untreated. In the beginning of the late eighteenth century "moral treatment" had started , this "moral treatment" stated that the people with the mental illness should be put in an apporpriate enviornment. Near the 1880's people were truning against the people with a mental problem. But that also brought people to coming up with treatments for the patients.
The central point of the article was that mental illness was brain damage. It was also about how there was a "moral treatment" for the people who had an illness.
My reaction to this article was , I felt bad for the people who had the mental illness. I felt bad because it was upsetting knowing that if someone had an illness they were to be put in jail or they had to stay home, without treatment. My other reaction to this article was that, back then people were not really treated equally. For example after a couple of years of having the "moral treatment" doctors were frustrated by their lack of progress.
