Dr. Jekyll

While reading The Strange Case Of Dr.Jekyll and Mr.Hyde I have come across some intresting characters. Although the one I am most drawn to has got to be Dr. Jekyll. I say this because Dr. Jekell has always been the mysterious one. From the begining of the book to the point I'm currently reading he has always been the type of person who keeps secrets. He is also not very socialable. For example on page 11 Dr. Lanyon was telling Mr. Utterson how Dr. Jekyll and him hadn't spoken because Dr. Jekyll  " began to go wrong, wrong in the mind".
Dr. Jekyll also loves to keep things a hidden mystery. For example in his will he states that if he goes missing within three months (to be exact) that all of his possessions be given to Mr. Hyde. And when Mr. Utterson goes to Dr. Jekyll's house to say why give it all to Mr. Hyde, Dr. Jekyll tells him to leave everything alone and that he shall not question about it anymore.
Then everything changes, in the chapter called, ' Remarkable Incident of Dr. Lanyon ' , Dr. Jekyll becomes friendly and sociable again. He has many dinner parties and is having a great time. Ever since the dissapearance of My. Hyde , Dr. Jekyll began a new fresh life. But that only lasted for more than two months. After that Dr. Jekyll refused to see anyone again.
Dr, Jekyll has many mood changes throughout the book. One moment he will be very mysterious and then the next he shuts the door on his friends.
I think that stevenson is trying to say that people back then maybe changed as science became more advanced. For example Dr. Jekyll went overboard with scince because he went wrong in the mind. Therefore I belive that sometimes science needs to be left alone because if not you could end up like Dr. Jekyll.

  1. I think that you did a great job backing up your opinoin and giving reason. I agree with you strongly some things should be left alone. Like Dr.Lannyon said if we know everything sometimes it's better to just die.
