"Story of a Door" Reaction .

Throughout this book, there were many moments that effected me as a reader. It made me futher think into the book. For example on page 7 of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde when Mr. Utterson and Mr. Enfield were talking. Mr. Enfield was describing the man that had ran into the little girl. "He is not to easy describe. There is something wrong with his appearance; something displeasing, something downright detestable. I never saw a man so I disliked, and yet I scarce know why. He must be deformed somewhere; He gives a strong feeling of deformity, although I couldn't specify the point. He's an extraordinary-looking man, and yet I really can name nothing out of the way. No, sir; I can make no hand of it; I can't describe him. And it's not want of memory; for I declare I can see him this moment.
During this event, Mr. Enfield states that he could not describe the way the man look, he said the man was extraordinary. In  Mental Illness in the 19th Century  they talk about how people in the 19th century had mental issues. Some people weren't able to get cured other people had moral treatment. If people had a mental illness, then they would go to prisons and they would be untreated. Also it makes me think how the little girl was out and about at 3 in the morning, could she have had a mental illness?
In this time if people have a mental illness, doctor's can at least control it. People with metal illness can act slow. Although they don't have a wrong apperance.

  1. I agree with you when you asked "Can the little girl have a mental illness because she is out at 3 in the morning?" This made me think about the fact that maybe it is not the little girl with the mental illness, but maybe it"s her parents. If you think about it what parent would let such a young child out that late at night... or should I say morning.

  2. i totally agree with you. I like how you compared the recent article to the story. Also, I liked how you put the description of the man, and you are right that doctors can now treat people with these mental illness' but back then you couldn't help.
